The small 8mm “Salon Cinema” screens found films from the 1950s through the 1980s—footage originally shot in private settings, often while traveling. Captured to preserve memories, these films were later viewed at home in darkened rooms with family or shared with friends. The dark room, the rattling of the projector, and the smell produced during the screening create a special atmosphere.
The Cinémathèque trouvée—Salon Cinema takes place in open private spaces, such as living rooms, as well as at outdoor events. The films are accompanied by a live soundtrack.
